If you’re dreaming of an engagement session that feels straight out of a storybook, Cypress Gardens in Moncks Corner, South Carolina is pure magic—especially in the spring. As a North Carolina wedding photographer who loves working with travel-loving couples, I was so excited when Grace and Jacob chose this beautiful location for their session on April 19th.
It was the perfect spring day: warm sunshine, blooming azaleas, and soft golden light filtering through moss-covered trees. The setting could not have matched their romantic, laid-back vibe more perfectly.
Located just outside of Charleston, Cypress Gardens feels like a hidden world of its own. Between the reflective blackwater swamp, winding garden paths, and iconic canoe rides, it’s hard to believe a place this dreamy exists just a few hours from home.
Grace and Jacob love to travel, so turning their engagement session into a weekend getaway was a no-brainer. As soon as they arrived, they fell in love—laughing, exploring, and soaking up the peace of the gardens. These two are the kind of couple who make adventure look effortless, and this location gave us the perfect blend of southern charm and nature.
April in the Carolinas is hard to beat, and Cypress Gardens shows off during this time of year. The trees were full and green, the flowers were just starting to bloom, and the weather gave us a calm, dreamy warmth without the sticky humidity of summer.
Grace wore a flowy skin dress that caught the breeze just right, while Jacob kept it classic in soft neutrals. Together, they looked like they had stepped out of a film. The mossy oaks and still water were the perfect backdrop to highlight their sweet chemistry.
Of course, we couldn’t visit Cypress Gardens without taking a canoe ride through the cypress trees—yes, just like The Notebook. Grace and Jacob snuggled up in the boat while I photographed from my own canoe, capturing that peaceful, intimate energy between them. It was one of those quiet, cinematic moments that I know they’ll look back on forever.
