I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what kind of wedding photographer I actually want to be. As a wedding photographer, I spend a lot of time looking at other photographers’ work. And sometimes, if I’m being honest, it can all start to look the same. The big venues. The elaborate florals. The perfectly styled details. The huge guest lists. The carefully produced moments that photograph beautifully.
And don’t get me wrong, I love a beautiful wedding. I love the details. I love a gorgeous venue. I love when a couple has a vision and gets to bring it to life. But I’ve realized that the part of weddings I care about most has very little to do with how big or impressive the day looks.
I care about the people.
I care about the way your dad looks at you when you walk down the aisle. The friend who makes you laugh when you’re supposed to be taking a serious photo. Your grandmother dancing in the corner. The quiet moment you share together after the ceremony when you finally realize, we’re married.
I care about the moments you didn’t plan for. And I think that’s the kind of photographer I want to continue becoming.

Will & Anna’s wedding was tucked away in North Carolina wine country, surrounded by historic log cabins and beautiful tree lines. It was beautiful, but what made it memorable wasn’t just the setting.
It was the feeling of the day.
It felt personal. It felt intentional. It felt like them. And that’s what I love about wedding photography.
A wedding can be 300 people in an incredible venue with every detail thoughtfully planned. Or it can be 30 people gathered around a backyard. It can be a courthouse ceremony followed by pizza. It can be a quiet mountain elopement. It can be a huge celebration you’ve been dreaming about for years.
I want to photograph all of it.
I don’t want you to feel like your wedding needs to fit a certain mold for it to be worthy of beautiful photographs.

There’s a balance I’m always looking for when I photograph a wedding.
I want to give you beautiful, intentional portraits. I’ll guide you when you need direction, help you feel comfortable in front of the camera, and make sure we create photographs that feel elevated and timeless.
But I also want to leave room for your day to simply happen. Not every moment needs to be recreated for the camera. Sometimes the best photograph is the one that happens when everyone forgets I’m there.
A hand resting on a shoulder.
A laugh between two people during dinner.
The way your dress moves as you walk through the venue.
Your friends completely losing it on the dance floor.
Your parents watching you from across the room.
The little things that may not have made it onto your timeline but will mean everything to you years from now. That’s the stuff I want to notice.

I think that’s ultimately what I’ve been searching for in my own work. Not necessarily a specific “look” or trend, but a way of photographing that feels honest.
I want to photograph weddings as they actually are, from the big moments to the quiet ones, from the perfectly planned details to the things that happen completely unexpectedly. Because I don’t think the value of your wedding is determined by the size of your guest list, the price of your venue, or how elaborate your flowers are.
Your wedding is meaningful because it’s yours.
And that’s what I want my photographs to preserve.
So whether you’re planning the wedding you’ve been dreaming about for years or something small and deeply personal, I want to be there to document it honestly, beautifully, and in a way that feels like you. Because your wedding doesn’t have to be a production to be worth documenting beautifully.
It just has to be yours.

If you’re planning a wedding that feels like you, whether that’s an intimate celebration, a big party, a courthouse ceremony, or something completely unconventional! I’d love to hear about it.
I photograph weddings throughout North Carolina and beyond with a documentary-inspired approach, combining gentle guidance with space for the real moments to unfold.
Your wedding doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. Let’s make photographs that feel like yours.
